One Paper per Subject
There’d been some speculations that there will be two levels of examination for GATE 2014. As per latest information (unofficial), there will be only one paper, which will be identical to those in GATE 2013, except for the following:
-
Online Examination
All the papers will be online (computer based).
-
Fill in the Blanks
Apart from objective type questions, there will be fill in the blank questions, for which answers will be numerals. You can expect 20%-25% of the total marks dedicated for this kind of questions.

Conduct of the Exam
As mentioned earlier, examinations will be online (computer based), and will be under the control of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kgp). Expected period of conduct of GATE 2014 is February 1, 2014 – March 2, 2014.
Note: The examination will be ‘computer-based’ (like CAT exam), need not be online. The term ‘online’ has been used for the purpose of general understanding. Have an eye on your BTech/MCA percentage. That might matter while calculating the final score for admission.
